Background
Interswitch, the parent company of Verve with over 70M cardholders, wanted to build a direct-to-consumer channel beyond its traditional relationships through issuing banks and fintechs. Young people were identified as a key growth audience, and launching an MVNO under the Verve brand created an opportunity to enter the market and deepen engagement.
My Role
I led the design of VerveMobile as a strategy-focused initiative. I conducted market research to understand the mental models of young people based on the fintech and social apps they used daily. I worked with legal and compliance teams to ensure regulatory requirements are met while instilling trust without creating friction. I collaborated with product managers, engineers, and industry consultants to align business and regulatory goals. I validated decisions with flow-by-flow usability tests and designed an experience that balanced compliance, usability, and adoption.
